ACU Interoperability Products
Raytheon JPS Communications’ ACU
technology provides the foundation to solve your communications
interoperability needs. Our flagship product is the ACU-1000
which can interconnect up to 24 devices. If you need
a smaller solution, the ACU-T has much the functionality
of the ACU-1000 but in a smaller, more portable design.
Coupled with our radio over internet protocol (RoIP)
/ voice over internet protocol (VoIP) products, the ACU-1000
can be networked to provide hundreds of nodes for larger
applications and for wide area interoperability systems
(WAIS).
Raytheon JPS Communications designs, manufactures
and sells electronic hardware and software products that
enhance the effectiveness of high frequency (HF) radio
and land mobile radio (LMR) communications systems. HF
radio equipment is ideal for long distance communications,
and is used by the military and government agencies. LMR
equipment is better suited for short distance communications,
and is used by federal and local government agencies, such
as police and fire departments, railroads, commercial businesses
and military groups worldwide.
Our products include: intelligent interconnects,
RoIP/VoIP technology, radio/telephone interface units,
voice modulation recognition systems, voting products,
HF pre/postselectors, switch matrices, transportable products
and noise reduction systems. These radio interconnect products
facilitate communications between two-way radios (HF and
VHF/UHF) and various other media, such as other radios,
cellular, landline telephone, NEXTEL and SATCOM. JPS’ signature
product, the ACU-1000 Intelligent Interconnect System,
provides interoperability between multiple radio systems
operating on different frequencies to simplify communications
for public safety, military and railway as well as federal
and local governments.
Applications
Morris Wireless can serve your operability
and interoperability needs with many system configurations.
Whether your application calls for a fixed site installation
or a small, transportable one, we can support you with
the right system at the right budget. Our application categories
are:
Interoperability Applications
ACU-1000: All of our interoperability
products have a common building block, our time-tested,
proven, unsurpassed ACU-1000 technology.
Fixed Site: If your application calls
for a comprehensive interoperability system in a permanent
installation, this is the solution we recommend.
Transportable: If your interoperability
needs call for fast response, smaller size, in remote
locations, a transportable system is the way to go. Our
TRP family of products is a good example. They offer
superior versatility and fast installation.
Mobile: JPS offers mobile configurations
that feature fully interoperable communications systems
in a van, bus, or other vehicle of your choosing. We
can help you design the mobile configuration that best
meets the needs in your areas of geographic coverage.
Wide Area Interoperability System (WAIS):
JPS also supports your wide area communications needs,
including intra-state, state-to-state, and coast to coast
interconnectivity.
Operability Applications
Voter Systems: We offer a number
of solutions to achieve the best signals for transmitting
and receiving your communications. Our proven voter
systems are a good example.
VoIP Technology
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet
Protocol, which is a means of digitizing voice signals
and sending them over a digital network. The digital
network can be a LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide
Area Network), or the Internet itself. The NXU-2 and
NXU-X embodies this VoIP technology in a way that enables
communications radios to be interconnected across the
room or around the world. The PortaLink is an extension
of the NXU-2, incorporating it with a wireless network
to allow a radio’s voice and RS-232 at a remote
location to be linked to an ACU-1000.
Radio/Telephone Interface Units
The phone patch family uses a digital
signal processor (DSP) to dynamically provide a broadband
hybrid null, thus eliminating VOX falsing and other problems
that are characteristic of other phone patches.
VMR-12A Voice Modulation Recognition
Unit
The VMR-12 Voice Modulation Recognition
Unit is packaged in a 19 inch EIA standard rack-mounted
Eurocard cage. A Power Supply Module and up to twelve VMM-2
Voice Modulation Recognition Modules are plugged into the
card cage backplane. Each VMM-2 Module provides the next
generation of reliable speech detection capability in noisy
audio signals by using state of the art Digital Signal
Processing (DSP) techniques. Each module’s DSP is
capable of accurately detecting speech, including the elusive
first syllable, in any of the following audio sources:
in audio received by a radio; in a noisy phone line; in
a tape recording made under adverse conditions; or in an
intercom system being used in a high ambient background
noise environment.
Voting Products
The SNV selects the input channel with the
best quality audio based on the DSP computed signal-to-noise
ratio of the incoming audio signals.
PPS-100 Pre/Postselector
The PPS-100 Pre/Postselector permits operation
of co-located receivers and transmitters on frequencies
separated by as little as 10%. When used with receivers,
the unit functions as a preselector, providing an additional
front end selectivity stage. This reduces the receiver
desensitization and overload that would normally occur
in the presence of strong adjacent RF transmissions. The
unit is used as a postselector with transmitters. It rejects
spurious outputs and broadband noise in the transmit signal
before it reaches the power amplifier, thereby limiting
interference to neighboring receivers. The PPS-100 performs
both functions with a transceiver; it follows the radio’s
key line and switches between the preselector and postselector
modes.
MTX-1616 Audio/Digital Switch Matrix
Our’ MTX-1616 Audio/Digital Switch
Matrix provides a flexible single-unit answer to the need
for different switching circuits for each of the many configurations.
The unit has been designed to switch both audio controls
and control signals simultaneously; the standard configuration
contains both a 16x16 audio switch matrix and a 16x8 delay
matrix.
TRP-1000 Transportable Radio Interconnect
The TRP-1000 Transportable Radio Interconnect
System provides radio interoperability during missions
requiring communications between diverse organizations
using different radios and different frequencies. The system
package consists of one or more transportable cases and
includes multiple radios pre-wired to JPS Communications’ ACU-1000
Intelligent Interconnect Unit. The radios, which cover
all frequency bands can be cross-connected through the
ACU-1000.
NRU-600 DSP Noise Reduction Unit
The NRU-600 is an advanced audio signal processor
that provides maximum flexibility to eliminate or reduce
most types of interference from voice, CW and data transmissions.
The unit uses a high speed Digital Signal Processor (DSP)
to provide simultaneous bandpass filtering, noise reduction
and multiple tone/heterodyne removal. An automatic Notch
filter removes multiple heterodynes from tune-ups, adjacent
channel carriers, CW, RTTY, or similar signals without
interfering with voice signals when a voice bandwidth has
been selected. The notch filter operates in 5 milliseconds
or less. Two noise reduction algorithms are provided in
the NRU-600: an FD (Frequency Domain) algorithm and a TD
(Time Domain) algorithm; to give the operator the best
audio noise reduction possible.
